Personal Protection Inside The Home Course
This class is for the experienced shooter. Proof of shooting experience can be one of the following: NRA Basic Pistol Course Certificate, NRA FIRST Steps Course Certificate, NRA Pistol Competitive Shooting Qualification Card, Military DD-214 with Pistol Qualification, or passing the Pre-Course Assessment.
Students will provide their own Pistol, a minimum of two Magazines and Magazine Pouches, and Ammunition (100-150 rounds of ammunition).
Objective of this Course:
This is an eight-hour course. Students should expect to shoot approximately 100-150 rounds of ammunition. Students will learn basic defensive shooting skills, strategies for home safety and responding to a violent confrontation, firearms and the law, how to choose a handgun for self-defense, and continued opportunities for skill development. Students will receive the NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, and a course completion certificate. from Wingler Firearms Training.
Included in this 8-Hour Course are Lessons Covering:
1) Introduction to Defensive Shooting
(Mental & Physical Preparation, Mental Awareness, Confronting an Intruder, Psycological Responses, Shooting to Stop the Threat, etc.)
2) Basic Defense Pistol Skills
(Range Commands and Safety Rules, Defensive Accuracy, Marksmanship, Shooting Positions, Flash Sight Aiming, Point Shooting, Cover and Concealment, etc.)
3) Firearms and the Law: Possession, Ownership, and the Use of Deadly Force (General Laws Pertaining to the Purchase,Transfer, & Possession of a Pistol, Key Provisions & Restrictions Pertaining to the Use of Deadly Force, etc.)
4) Strategies for Home Safety and Responding to a Violent Confrontation
(Making Yourself and Your Home Safer, Emergency Response Planning, Emotional and Legal Aftermath, Safe Storage of Personal Protection Pistol , etc.)
5) Selecting a Pistol for Self-Defense (Types of Holsters for conceal carry will be discussed as well)
(Selecting a Pistol, Ammunition, Accessories, etc.)
6) Sport Shooting Activities and Training Opportunities
(Shooting Activities, Organizations, Facilities, etc.)
7) Live Pistol Shooting on the Firing Range (Minimum of 100-150 rounds)
The materials and training methods used in this course were prepared and developed by the NRA through years of experience and constant modification to fulfill the needs of an ever-changing society. The instructors conducting this course are highly trained and are certified by the National Rifle Association.
